Can't stop repeat notifications

Hi Guys,

I want to stop repeat notifications on my services, essentially I want a single email for a state change and no repeats when a service is in a warning or critical state.

I've set the notification_interval on my services to no value and I've chased back through the templates that are applied and checked those too, they are all set to no value. All done through CCM.

However I'm still getting half hourly repeat notifications.

Am I right in even thinking I can do this? I was chatting with another customer of yours and he thought he'd read somewhere that this is by design, so half hourly notifications can't be disabled.

If I am correct in my thinking then where do I look next to remove the repeat notifications?

Thanks!

Nick

Did you set your notification interval to "0" or "no value"? Do you have escalations set up on the service checks?

No escalations are set up and I've set it to the empty string "" not 0.

I did change one service last night to 5 (this worked) then back to "" which resumed the 30 min repeat. Then finally set to 0 with no change, the notification came every 30 mins again.

You will want to set it to "0" to only receive one notification per state change. An empty string will probably cause it to inherit the defaults from the template.

Cool.

I've just had another look and it looks like this did in fact work! I thought I was still getting repeats! My bad :)

Case closed!

Interesting to note though that with all templates and the service set to null, I was still getting half hourly notifications...
