There are a number of ways to send txt-msgs. What have you considered?

Emailing your phone is by far the easiest method of sending txt-msgs, though it's also the least appropriate for Nagios. There are many other options and it would be impossible to list them all here.

Instead list the other criteria you have and I'll attempt to direct you to an appropriate solution for you. Listing the resources you have available is also appropriate.

Here is a small list of what you can use:
1. Hard line and modem(multiple ways to make use of such a modem), numeric paging is vary easy as is accessing a paging service. Modem used for dial-in?
2. Cellular modem, a good wireless solution though should be a secondary as noisy data-centers don't usually have best reception all the time... Especially if your generator is running.
3. A solid internet connection.
4. Line of sight or sound/attendant.

A great solution may entail all/most of these.

How about emailing a phone?. Can we setup more than one phone number in "mobile text" option in notification methods?

To email a phone you configure each phone as a new contact using the Phone's email address. Most carriers have a special domain that will accept email messages [email protected], find the settings for your carrier.

Correct. It may be a bit much to add a user in XI, but if you just added the contact into CCM then you would also have to manage the sending of email in the CCM.
