Filter by hard/soft state

On the "Operations Center" view (provided by the nocscreen component), I'd like to make it only show hosts and services that are in a HARD warning or critical state, not soft ones. How can I do that? From what I can tell it seems like it will need some additions to the component.
(While you're add it, it would be nice if the number of unhandled issues didn't flash when it's zero.)
