Strange result for Nagios XI

Post by smcracraft »

Downloaded and installed.

Now it just gives this at http://localipaddress

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.2.3 (Red Hat) Server at 172.16.18.129 Port 80

Thought this was supposed to be easier to install and get up and running
for a proof of concept than Nagios Core.

Very odd that Nagios wouldn't have an out-of-the-box super-simple install
that just works.

That there is an online demo for connecting to via url isn't really an excuse
for not having out-of-the-box solid.

First impressions count.

Hi Stuart -

The default installer scripts that we recommend you run don't include overwriting the / (root) HTML folder. This is done in order to prevent people from accidentally overwriting an existing page. If you want the root document overwritten, just run the following script in the Nagios XI setup directory:

Code: Select all

./Z-webroot
Either way, Nagios XI should be accessible via this form of URL:

http://[ipaddress]/nagiosxi
As of May 25th, 2018, all communications with Nagios Enterprises and its employees are covered under our new Privacy Policy.
