new user woes with website monitoring wizard

Post by amayo »

Im having trouble with the web site monitoring wizard accepting the URL
http://hacssdmpc1.ihess.com:9080/ACS/servlet/ACS

If I enter it , it fails the HTTP check. When I view in Core, it shows no arguments.

Do I need to use core to enter this site? If so, where can I finf doc showing all the correct arguments for the various checks... Forgive me I'm just getting started and havent worked with NAGIOS netsaint?) in , lets say , 11 years or so......

So if I understand correctly, the website monitoring wizard isn't finding the http address you're giving it?

You can use the Core Config Manager to manually enter new hosts and services in XI.

Log in to the CCM, go the the Hosts page and add a new host with the appropriate information. You can then manually add any service checks you need for it from the Services page in the CCM. If you need to, create a dummy website check with the wizard first and make sure your settings are similar.

Here's our full Doc on Host Management using the CCM. Let us know if you need more info.

First hacssdmpc1.ihess.com has no IP Addres for me at least.

I just tested this URL on 2009R1.3E and everything was fine, except that the services all fail because of DNS.

Test at a shell, used google to get past DNS issue and changed port to get into google.
[root@banker libexec]# ./check_http -H hacssdmpc1.ihess.com -f -I http://www.google.com -u "http://hacssdmpc1.ihess.com:9080/ACS/servlet/ACS" -p 80
HTTP WARNING: HTTP/1.0 404 Not Found
