Bounty Program Overview:
The Nagios Community Bounty Program is designed to help the worldwide Nagios Community by providing useful information, software and resources related to:
* How to use Nagios software (Nagios XI, Nagios CSP, Nagios Log Server, etc)
* How to monitor different things with Nagios (Windows Servers, databases, web applications, etc)
* How to solve different problems faced by organizations and IT departments using Nagios solutions
In addition to providing end users with valuable information and resources, the Nagios Community Bounty Program is designed to incentivize participation in the program through paid bounties. We hope this helps improve the lives of those participating in some measurable manner.
Participation in the Nagios Community Bounty Program is perfect for:
* New Nagios users and IT newcomers
* Seasoned Nagios users and IT professionals
* Anyone looking to generate extra income by leveraging their IT skills, curiosity, and drive to provide a greater service
Bounty Participant Requirements:
* Bounty participants must be able to accept payment via Paypal.
* US residents will have to provide information for 1099-MISC income statements if bounty payments exceed IRS yearly thresholds.
* All documentation and videos must be in English
* Documentation and videos must be submitted to Nagios via email, slack, or forum post
* Documentation and video content must meet Nagios standards for use and publication
Bounty Content Use And Publication:
Videos, documentation, tutorials, and software projects that are the result of the Nagios Community bounty program will be promoted, listed, or hosted on one of more of the following:
* The Nagios YouTube channel
* The Nagios Support Knowledgebase
* The Nagios Library site
* The Nagios Exchange site

To get started with the bounty program, fill out this signup form. Once you submit the form, we'll get back with details on how to join our team via Slack and get started.
Types Of Bounties:
There are two general classes of Nagios Community bounties:
* Ongoing Bounties - These have no end date and are just on-going bounties to benefit the community with new documentation, tutorials, and software addons
* As Needed Bounties - These bounties are designed to help solve specific problems facing the Nagios Community and customers
Ongoing Bounties:
The following bounties are on-going, with no set end date.
Tech HOWTO docs - $250-$500 each
Write documentation (tutorial, etc) on:
* How to use Nagios software to accomplish specific tasks (Nagios XI, Nagios CSP, Nagios Log Server, etc)
* How to monitor different things with Nagios (Windows Servers, databases, web applications, etc)
* How to integrate different solutions with Nagios (nmap, Suricata, SNORT, Wireshark, etc)
Requirements:
* Must publish article/documentation online
* Must allow us to republish the article/doc (with credits)
* See the example ideas list on topics you could cover
Tech HOWTO videos - $500+ each
Create one or more video tutorials on:
* How to use Nagios software to accomplish specific tasks (Nagios XI, Nagios CSP, Nagios Log Server, etc)
* How to monitor different things with Nagios (Windows Servers, databases, web applications, etc)
* How to integrate different solutions with Nagios (nmap, Suricata, SNORT, Wireshark, etc)
Requirements:
* Must publish the completed video tutorial on YouTube
* Must allow us to professionally edit and republish the video (with credits to you)
* See the example ideas list on topics you could cover
How Nagios Has Helped Story - $500+ each
Detail how some organization has benefited from the use of Nagios and what it has helped them accomplish. Writeups should include organization name, website, and their industry or area of speciality.
Requirements:
* Must publish this writeup online or send it to us directly (via Slack) for publication
* Must allow us to edit and republish this writeup (with credits to you).
Nagios Plugin And Addon Development - $500+ (Dependent On Scope)
Contribute to the Nagios Community be writing new plugins or addons, or by enhancing existing ones.
Requirements:
* Must be published under an Open Source license (e.g. GPL or BSD) for community plugins and addons
* Must be published/distributed online or sent to us (via Slack) for online publication/distribution
* Must allow us to edit and republish the produced code (with credits to you).
As Needed Bounties:
In order to support the Nagios Community and our commercial customer base to the fullest extent possible, we could use the expertise of the community in solving particular tech issues from time to time. These efforts would benefit everyone in the Nagios community, as documentation and testing results would be published publicly.
Tech Testing + Documentation (support issues) - $250+ Depending On Issue
Purpose:
To help solve issues regarding usage, integration, installation and upgrades, etc for our commercial customers and the broader Nagios Communnity.
Requirements:
* Must publish results online
* Must allow us to republish (with credits)
