Description:By default, Nagios will be installed in the URL format like this: http://yourserver/nagios/ . But you want to allow user to access to Nagios with the URL http://yourserver/nagios as well as the default URL. But after the changes have been made to the file cgi.cfg as the document said and try to browse the URL http:/yourserver/nagios , the webserver failes to find the site and send user to URL http://_default_/nagios with error "Page cannot be displayed".

Solution:

Presuming that your webserver is Apache, after you changed the vaule in cgi.cfg in url_html_path from "/nagios/" to be "/nagios". There are 2 more things need to be done here:

1. You also need to add one more Alias at the Alias directive section to make it look like below:

Alias /nagios/ "/usr/local/nagios/share/"
Alias /nagios "/usr/local/nagios/share/"

  Options None
  AllowOverride AuthConfig
  Order allow,deny
  Allow from all

2. Turn off the directive UseCanonicalName in httpd.conf. It is set by default to be "on". More details of what this directive does can be found at Apache website.
