The VM should be configured to use DHCP. If it doesn't have an address, your network adapter is probably not configured correctly in vmware player. Check the network adapter settings, specifically you'll probably want to enable bridged networking to bridge with your current network and obtain an IP...

The easiest way to get started with Nagios is to try our pre-installed virtual machine of Nagios XI, which can be downloaded at the link below, and runs on VMware Player or ESX.
