Lets imagine a scenario:
Server1 is active
Server2 is passive
You monitor the Server_VIP
Server1 has some services with CRITICAL that show up on Nagios
Support team switches to Server2, services are now OK and clear up.
That's how we do it.

Re: Monitoring HA Services
If I understand correctly, you should be monitoring only the active server at all times, therefor, you should monitor the VIP and not the specific server IP's.

Free variable definition from service output
Hi, Is it possible to set a dynamic Free variable definition that is generated from a service check output? I want to configure an NRPE check that outputs a service name, and then use that service name with an event handler. IE: NRPE check outputs: "Windows Time" Free variable definition $...

Re: Applied config files reverted at night?
Nope.
Anyways it seems fine now - it was either some weird bug or user (mine) error
Topic can be closed.
Thanks.

Re: Applied config files reverted at night?
Yeah I'm sure,
They apply correctly and I can see the changes being comitted via core config manager.

I just tried re-importing them, I will report back if they revert again.
Thanks

Applied config files reverted at night?
Hi,
I've imported service configuration files to Nagios and applied configuration.
The new configuration took place accordingly.
When I got back to the office the next day, the config files reverted themselves to the old ones.
How can this happen?
Thanks,
Tal

Re: External command processing
Hi sreinhardt, I've read your comment but I have to disagree. The log clearly shows the external commands (snmptt -> snmptraphandling.py -> nagios.cmd) arrive by the correct order: Passive Check 2013-11-12 08:13:46 EXTERNAL COMMAND: PROCESS_SERVICE_CHECK_RESULT;192.168.103.11;SNMP Traps;0; Available...
