Can you please advice how best to monitor HA services?
The support team does not want see critical alerts if either Pri or Sec MQ services is active.
Basically they want notification that Pri is down and Sec is up but in XI all the Pri services should be green since Sec has taken over.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Monitoring HA Services
If I understand correctly, you should be monitoring only the active server at all times, therefor, you should monitor the VIP and not the specific server IP's.

Your solution is ideal if the HA is automated.cellact wrote:If I understand correctly, you should be monitoring only the active server at all times, therefor, you should monitor the VIP and not the specific server IP's.
In my case the HA is manual and they always switch around when there is issues. Dont know the details on why this is the case.
Most of the services is active except some is turned off in the passive.

Re: Monitoring HA Services
Lets imagine a scenario:
Server1 is active
Server2 is passive
You monitor the Server_VIP
Server1 has some services with CRITICAL that show up on Nagios
Support team switches to Server2, services are now OK and clear up.
That's how we do it.
