Follow-up. When I try and run a test notification I get the attached error. Seems odd as well.

Version is Nagios XI 2012R1.2 (I think that is what you requested).
Yes there is a contact group associated with the services/hosts.
I can select the group and all the settings but the alerting period doesn't save.

Alert Setting Notification Period
I do not get any alerts from my Nagios XI installation. I get my test alerts but nothing from my monitoring. I have attached an image of the alerting notification period. It says it is required but when I select 24X7 and select save, it doesnt save. How do I get alerts to get sent? Not really useful...
