thank you for the input, after I posted the light bulb came on and I remember that we restrict what can run under tmp. so I had to mod the script so it cd to ~/ and the install finished fine.

I'm trying to run the NagiosXI-Nagvis.sh

the installation appears to fail with the following error
Installed:
graphviz.x86_64 0:2.26.0-10.el6
Complete!
./NagiosXI-Nagvis.sh: line 128: ./install.sh: Permission denied

my apologizes that was just a example. What I would like to do is restrict a user to not be able to add anything other then what he/she can view.

I know I can leverage multi-tenancy to restrict what user can view. Is there a way to restrict and/or allow a user to add or configure objects that they can view, but no other objects. If you grant the user "Can (re)configure hosts and services" the user can add any object to Nagios xi. As...

LDAP Auth and Multi-Tenancy
Can I use LDAP to authenticate my users and configure Multi-Tenancy to ensure those specific users have access only to hosts and services they are authorized to view and maintain, or does the user need to be created via the Nagios xi GUI for multi-tenancy to work?

yes but with the hosts.cfg and servers.cfg file missing, how would the import know what servers or services to monitor? Would it be defined in another cfg file?

ok then how can I link the printerguy home dashboard to show printer alerts, but johnv home dashboard shows linux servers. is there a good post about this or book I can buy
