OK, I'll wait until Monday to report.

I logged into the core and saw that the services are there as well.
I noticed the core is outdated, I will update the version and if that does not fix the issue then we can setup a remote session.

I have run the sql query and the results did not include any of the ghost services. I followed the steps and ran into a few issues, but I was able to fix. In the end I was able to reindex the db and restart Nagios. Those are ghost services are still around however. Is there anything else that can be...

[root@gh01nagios ~]# service nagios start

Correct, the services are still present.
At this point, I don't have a config to revert to that hasn't had this issue.
