Re: Nagios 4 Load issues
I'll try and make some time to do that. Our infra guys confirmed that the SAN that backs off our production instances show little latency around these spike times, but worth a go as we're not on SSDs or anything.

Re: Nagios 4 Load issues
I've not done any in depth tuning yet - but I'm a long time Nagios user through various versions and it's the first time I've encountered any hosts with this sort of peaky load pattern which settles back down into nothing. My thinking is that if I was seeing genuine performance issues then I would e...

Re: Nagios 4 Load issues
As a final additional point for now, looking at the load profile on my 4.2.1 host it does look like those peaks are still there, albeit on a significantly lower scale.

Re: Nagios 4 Load issues
OK, spoke a little too soon on this. Having now got back in front of my machine to look further, I realise the default settings for auto_reschedule_checks are just resulting in loads of checks perpetually being rescheduled - so I had checks from before the weekend which had still not executed. I've ...

Re: Nagios 4 Load issues
Apologies, not had chance to post that data today. However, attached is a screenshot of the load from the 4.2.1 host that I set auto_reschedule_checks=1 on Friday afternoon. The load now looks perfect. I'll try this on the 4.0.8 hosts tomorrow and see how that progresses.

Re: Nagios 4 Load issues
Just grabbed a couple of outputs from one of our boxes that's just hitting spike-o-clock. Image attached, outputs to follow.

Re: Nagios 4 Load issues
I sat and did some analysis last week when one of the boxes was under a load peak and my findings were essentially "not a great deal". They're not iobound, nor are they obviously CPU bound. I wondered if the load was just being skewed heavily due to the sheer volume of checks taking place,...

Nagios 4 Load issues
Moderator Edit: This thread has been split from another - https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27068 In the future, please create a new thread and link to the old one instead of adding on. Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm experiencing very similar behaviour on some Nagios hosts I've...
