I was able to finally finish this today - simply put, I used the RPM tarball to upgrade versions (with some modifications to deleted tables in 5.5.4).

Is it possible to prep import, then use core config to ingest the configs from an older version? I've given this a shot once, but am lacking hosts and services.cfg from the export.
