Nagios XI 2012R2.9
RHEL 6.5 x64
Manual Install
I need to grant access to the monitoring staff whose only duty is to monitor alerts, add comments in hosts/services and escalate.
They need to be able to do the following with 1 & 2 must have feature
1) View all hosts / services
2) Able to add comments to all hosts/services
3) Not able to delete comments.
3) Acknowledge problems
3) Ping/traceroute the host
Please advice how to go about this. Current access rights to enable add comments ends up enabling all advanced functions.
Thanks.

Re: Access Rights for Monitoring Team
Currently in XI if you can add comments to all hosts, and acknowledge problems, you also have the ability to delete comments.
Re: Access Rights for Monitoring Team
I can live with it but with this access also comes the ability to disable notification, stop monitoring checks etc etc.scottwilkerson wrote:Currently in XI if you can add comments to all hosts, and acknowledge problems, you also have the ability to delete comments.
Monitoring staff should not have this access.
If there any temp hack that can achieve this.

Re: Access Rights for Monitoring Team
Can you post ALL of the requirements for the user's permissions that you would like to see implemented? For example:
View all hosts / services = yes
Add comments to all hosts/services = yes
Delete comments = no
Acknowledge problems = no
Ping/traceroute the host = yes
Enable/Disable Notifications = no
...etc.

Re: Access Rights for Monitoring Team
I filed an internal feature request (TASK ID 2976). If there is enough interest in this functionality from other users, this may be implemented in one of our next releases of Nagios XI. Thank you!
