I'm assuming the primary issue here is the upgrade of the client.
The Nagios core version 3.2.1 was installed and running on this server. I probably screwed up removing the old client before I installed the new Nagios XI client.
is there a list of file I need to remove so I can basically start over? I would like to try to remove Nagios completely (Old version and New).
I could just do a find for Nagios and delete all of the files. Not sure how good of an idea that is but it is easy enough to do.
thoughts?

Re: nrpe not showing in netstat
Was this system preinstalled with nagios core before your attempted XI install? If so, you may just want to wipe the box as it may be easier than cleaning it up by hand.

Re: nrpe not showing in netstat
Full uninstall and reinstall solved the issue. oddly enough I had to wait a day before the re-install worked.
running it right away just game the last error.

Agreed, that is strange that it took some time. Going to close this up since it seems resolved. If you have more issues let us know!
