Updating individual port configurations (serivces)

Good morning,

What is the recommended method/process of updating port descriptions as changes are made to a switch/router. Is there a way to pick-up individual changes to ports once a switch/router has been added to Nagios XI using the 'Switch/Router Monitoring Wizard'.

Do you have to remove all of the defined services, then the host, and re-add it using the 'Switch/Router Monitoring Wizard', so the Nagios will re-scan the switch and pull the current port descriptions?

It depends on your preference and how many ports need updating. If you just need to update a few, you can access the service descriptions and update the names in the Core Config Manager->Services page. If you need to update large batches of ports, it might just be faster to delete them and then rerun the wizard. Right now we don't have any tool in place to rescan the ports to update the descriptions.
