Is there a component which would allow us to perform a "host discovery" to view all available services on a system before setting up individual monitors.
We tested Nagios Auto-Discover feature but its reporting is very limited.
Thanks,

Host Discover feature
Re: Host Discover feature
Auto-discovery should be able to show, at the very least, the open ports on a system. We obviously cannot have a plugin and service for all possible 65,535 ports and the various daemons that can be running on them, but we try to cover the most common ones like HTTP, DNS, FTP, etc. What specifically was not working for you?

Thanks tmcdonald.
We were just wondering if there are different tools or methods for detecting available services (to be monitored) instead of just active ports.
We've been using such a feature in IP Monitor (another monitoring tool we're trying to replace with Nagios).

Re: Host Discover feature
Currently, there is not a wizard which will scan running services/processes and show you a list to select from dynamically. The closest would be something like the NCPA agent's API system:

Cool! Let us know if you have further questions.
