Can't get NNA to Integrate with NagiosXI

Post by gregwhite »

I am trying to integrate NNA with NagiosXI. Under 'Alerting' I have successfully configured the NagiosXI server. I then created a service/hostname.
On the Nagios server I installed the NNA component and went in to edit settings and made changes mentioned in the forum. Then went to Inbound
Transfer Settings and tried to add token that was entered on NNA. It keeps saying NSCA password cannot be empty. and won't let me update token
on the NRDP tab. Couldn't find any mention of NSCA in the documentation.

Thanks,

Click the NSCA tab next to the NRDP tab in the XI interface. You will need to enter a password (anything will do - you are not using it) in order for both tabs to apply properly.

When I configured the NagiosXI server it says it was successful.
When I create a Servicename it says it was successful and tells me to go to the nagioXI server and do an apply config.
Under inbound transfers the NRDP tab has the token and Under the NSCA tab I check the steps in red and added password and it
was successful. I commented out in the NSCA file the line 'allow from'
Still nothing.

Well, what error is it giving you now that you tried to add a password to the NSCA page? What versions of Nagios XI and NNA are you using? Are you able to use any other NSCA component features such as the two NNA Network reports (you must have XI 2014 for this).

We are running NagiosXI 2012R1.9. Are you saying that we need 2014 in order to integrate?
I am not getting any errors. It says it successfully created the nagios server and the servicename. On NagiosXI it successfully took the edits for NRDP and NSCA.
When I do an apply config on the nagios server, the servicename I created on NNA shows up as an unconfigured object. I was able to configure it but the passive
check is pending.

Nagios XI's integration with NNA is fairly limited with version 2012. Once you create the servicename in NNA you need to click on the "checks" tab and create a check to go with it. Step 3 of the check creation allows you to select one of the services you created to tie that into XI. Without knowing what to check, the service in XI just sits there waiting for data that will never come. XI 2014 has much better NNA integration.

I had clicked on the checks tab and went through the three steps. On the Nagios server the status shows that no data was received from host.
Not sure if this is related to my previous post when I said that on the Nagios server instead of creating the service it left it as an unconfigured object. I then
went through the steps to configure it.

If the service\host you configured and the unconfigured object names match, there should be no issue and future results should be pushed to that service. If they do not match exactly, then it will stay an unconfigured object as they do not match and nagios will not make assumptions about which service it should be sending to. Are you seeing updates in the unconfigured object last seen times?

I had already configured the Unconfigured service. I just reconfigured the service and it is now recieving alerts. Don't know why. But it is working.
I am going to try to create another service to see how it goes but when creating the first one it would always show on the Nagios server as an unconfigured object.

Thanks,
