Nagios and backup

Hi,

I've seen that is possible to use one license for a main server and his backup. I would know how that it works? Is there something to activate when the main server is down or is it automatic? Can i replicate my DB from the main server to the backup even if the backup is in standby?

Failover in Nagios is not a small subject and is one that requires much planning specific to the needs and available resources in your organization. I would suggest checking out the slides from Mike Weber's talk in 2012 on the topic:
