New IP range need to be monitored

Post by selectport »

Hi All,

We have migrated couple of servers to a new IP range. After migration we did host configuration changes in nagios core which shows in sync.

But when I am trying to search in Nagios console unable to search the server.

We are using Nagios XI
Please let me know what are the things need to be checked to add the list of servers in nagios

regards

Did you make the changes to your Nagios Core files by hand or did you make them in the CCM?

We have added the servers in the new ip range in core configuration manager as add anew host.

In CCM it shows the server is Sync but in Nagios monitoring console I am unable to find the server.

Take a peak at /usr/local/nagios/var/objects.cache

This is a cache file Nagios builds on startup with everything it finds in the config files. You should be able to see the hosts listed in here and their configurations. If they are missing from here or wrong, you'll need to go back and re-check the configurations in CCM.

Also, verify Active is "Yes" for these items in the Core Config Manager.

I have checked in the core config database it is active and sync.

in the file "/usr/local/nagios/var/objects.cache" the server is not there. Any suggestion what need to be checked.

For a new IP range do we have to add it anywhere in Nagios. As I mentioned before the servers I am having issue with are in a new Ip range.

Were you able to apply configuration successfully? Do you have any config errors? Try running the Write Config Tool (CCM->Tools->Write Config Files->Write->Verify).

@limitchev
Thanks for your reply

under CCM->Tools
I have 4 options i.e Write monitoring data
Write additional data
Check configuration files
Restart Nagios

I am unable to find the option write configuration files
Please let me know if I need to use anything from the above 4 options
