I suppose my question simplified is.. whats the best way to make an exact copy of a host, including commands etc, without running into the above issues.

Apologies if im approaching this totally wrong.

Copying the config will work, but you need to make sure to change every instance of the host name. In your last post, you have no host named webproxy2 in either of those files, but you have services trying to reference it. The closest you have is webproxy2.ad.aib.pri.
