Re: Liebert UPS plugin not working in NagiosXI
Did you resolve the permissions issues? When running the same command abrist had you run previously are you now getting valid output? If you have not changed anything, can you provide the output of:
Code: Select all
ll /path/to/that/pluginRe: Liebert UPS plugin not working in NagiosXI
Man, like a wise man once told me. "If you give a monkey a pistol and he shoots someone, you don't blame the monkey"!!!
I've got this thing really jacked up now. I think I chowned and chgrped and vi'd this thing to death. I've got the permissions and ownership fixed and I undid the edit that Box suggested but I still get:
(Return code of 126 is out of bounds - plugin may not be executable)
I think where I screwed up is I edited the text file I saved to my desktop then tried to upload that file, I took the .txt off, but obviously being as Linux challenged as I am, I broke something.
Would I be better off downloading a whole new plugin for this?

Re: Liebert UPS plugin not working in NagiosXI
Is that error being shown in XI? Or is that what you get as a result of running the plugin manually from the CLI? Can you show the directory permissions as I noted above?
Re: Liebert UPS plugin not working in NagiosXI
OK, I finally got back to where I started from. The Service Detail screen is showing (null) now, I made the change that Box suggested, saved that, permission etc. look OK:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 nagios nagios 7869 Jul 9 08:24 check_snmp_liebert_iv
When I run the command manually I still get:
COMMAND: /usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_snmp_liebert_iv -H 10.5.210.35 -C j613LmNZ
OUTPUT:
I think this might have something to do with some earlier problems we had with plugins we imported from our old nagios system related to the version of perl. Can't recall exactly what that was but I think it has something to do with either we don't have perl installed on Nagios XI or it's a version that's not compatible with these older plugins.
Does that sound about right?

Re: Liebert UPS plugin not working in NagiosXI
Right, but can you run it via your ssh session so we can see what the output is, as abrist showed:
Just looking to verify you can actually get output there before wasting time trying to troubleshoot it though the XI interface, if it is giving broken output even running manually, we need to know.
Code: Select all

Thanks for all the help and patience. I ran the command and obviously I did jack something up with that plugin because I get this:

Re: Liebert UPS plugin not working in NagiosXI
You may need to grab the net-snmp360.pm perl module from the old system as that module is almost non-existent on the internets (it is abandoned).

Re: Liebert UPS plugin not working in NagiosXI
Thanks, that was what the problem was before.
Wouldn't I be better off just downloading a new plugin? If so, do you have any recommendations for a plugin for this? I have a number of devices running plugins using that old version of perl so I might as well get everything up to date.

Re: Liebert UPS plugin not working in NagiosXI
Downloading a newer plugin may be simpler.
This search of the Nagios Exchange shows five available plugins.
http://exchange.nagios.org/index.php?op ... rd=liebert
I can't recommend any as I've never used this brand before sorry.
