Duplicate Services Issue

Post by Sbergonzi »

I'm adding yet another windows server in our implementation and using the wizard, selecting both C and D drives. I deleted all services and the two hosts and re-added and still I see two services for each drive's disk usage. I also see that the default now shows the description as "Disk Usage" vs. "Usage" as the others did. And if I tried to edit the service an error regarding the ':' in the setup. Which is odd because the system added the description with the ':'.

We are using Nagios XI 2014R1.2

I tried checking under CCM / Services and only 1 services shows for each drive letter.

Any idea why this is happening?

There is a bug in XI 2014R1.2 that causes the : issue.

In this post, there is an updated ccm.zip component you can upload to your Nagios XI server which will fix the : issue.
http://support.nagios.com/forum/viewtop ... 20#p103626

Once you have uploaded the component, do the following:
  • Edit one of the existing disk services for the server with the duplicate disk usage checks
Don't make any changes, simply click Save
    Apply the configuation
Now the duplicate services in your screenshot should dissapear.

I updated the component, CCM is now at 2.1.2, and then opened and saved the services that were showing as duplicates. The save worked fine, no message regarding the ':'. I did Apply Configuration as well.

The duplicates are still showing for the two hosts. The service noted without the ':' shows a performance graph and the one with the ':' does not. The data collected is exactly the same.

thoughts? Do I have to delete the service and/or host and re-add?

I was able to fix the issue. I had added a 3rd host at the same time, this host had services minus the ':'. I went back and added the ':' and the duplicates on the other 2 hosts were removed.

Thank you for letting me know of the update, ok to close.

Going back, it looks like the data collected for the performance graph is no longer there for the services in place (disk usage). I'll check again later as the service monitors to see if the graph gets created.

It seems all the Disk Usage service calls don't have performance graphs. Has this always been the case? I must have not checked that.

You can check what rrd and xml files you have in the "/usr/local/nagios/share/perfdata/<whatever>/". Are they updating? What are the timestamps?
If you don't care about the historical data, you can remove the rrds. They will be recreated and the graphs should reappear.

The XML timestamps look recent (I have them set to check every 60 minutes). I deleted the rrd's to see if that brings back the charting.

I did notice there are two XML files for each drive (the duplicates i mentioned earlier). The ones with "..C__Disk.." are current timestamps, the "..C_Disk.." have not updated since this morning when I did the component update.

Did the performance graphs show up? Is the issue resolved?

No, seems there are other hosts that gather disk usage and don't show graphs for the service as well. Not sure when it stopped or if it ever worked. We have a hundred or so hosts checking for this service, so far I haven't found one that has a graph.

Can you go to Home->Service Detail->click on the service, go to the "Advanced" tab, and show us a screenshot of this page?
