Can't remove contact

Post by toleolu »

I can't remove contacts on hosts and services.

I've used the Bulk Modification tool, I have gone into each Host and Service and removed the contact there, saved config, wrote config, restarted Nagios, etc. etc. and I still can't get a contact removed from a number of hosts and services.

Any suggestions on what else I might try?

Ran into all kinds of problems here. I ended up restoring the VM snapshot from prior to the update. I was able to update the contacts hosts and services after that, but there's something wrong with the DB I think, because it takes sooooo long to write the updated configuration.

I ran the database repair script, but that didn't help. Think I'll leave it alone til Monday.

Are you still having issues?

What is the Nagios XI version that you reverted to? If you reverted to a XI version lower than 2014R1.1, it would be normal for apply configuration to take longer time.

Version 2012 R2.9.

The long time it takes to apply configurations seems to have started a couple of months ago. However, after the upgrade that problem went away, but then I had the issues with the bulk modifications, and a few other things which I assumed probably had to do with old stuff in the config files from the version 1 system we originally had.

Since I'm at 2012 R2.9, should I be going to some interim upgrades prior to going to the most current, or am I OK going from this version to the most current?

2012r2.9 to 2014r1.3 should upgrade just fine. The issues I know of deal with pre-2012 versions.

OK thanks. I'm going to spend the day cleaning things up a bit, get all my hosts and services properly assigned, then try the update again.
