I can confirm it is indeed the same issue, can someone tell me though what the "operation not permitted messages mean" , from the sounds of it looks like its trying to kill of a non-existent process

In jsmurphies case, this was just a change in error message from 3.5 to 4.0, and it was indicating that his host or service name was incorrect or not matching anything already configured. Might this be the case as well for you?
Nagios-Plugins maintainer exclusively, unless you have other C language bugs with open-source nagios projects, then I am happy to help! Please pm or use other communication to alert me to issues as I no longer track the forum.
