more weirdness with remote mysql instance

Post by kultardotnet »

Hey All,

Nagios XI trial install is done with mysql offloaded to another host.

I'm having issues where I am unable to utilize the monitoring wizards as the hosts do not get added into the database (I see no errors in logs).

I am able to successfully add hosts/services/hostgroups/etc via CCM, but I experience issues inserting into the remote db.

Can someone help me sort this out? Any instructions for remote db repair? Any suggestions on sorting out the wizards?

What XI version is this? What OS and version?
What wizard/s are you using? Can you go to Admin -> Manage Config Wizards and tell us their versions?
Do you see any errors in the remote server's logs?

Which actual wizards are you using? MySQL Query? MySQL Server?

I've tried every wizard with the same results, sadly.

You have tried *every* wizard? Do you mean every MySQL wizard or truly every wizard you listed?

Either way, are you certain the host does not already exist in the CCM? Be sure to search for both the host name and the IP address.

Morning,

Any way I can expedite this? i know i sound like a jerk for asking that but if I can't get this sorted, that means I can't spend several grand purchasing xi.

But anyway...

I'm trying to migrate several nagios core instances into xi, and i wanted to utilize the wizards to make life easier. I don't mind going through the few thousand hosts to make sure everything is up to snuff.

What this means is, I have every type of host for every wizard so it made troubleshooting easy.

1. I can successfully run *any* wizard.
2. At the completion of *any* wizard, I get all green on all tasks
3. The hosts that I add via the wizards do not show up anywhere.

Point 3 is the problem.

Suggestions?

We do offer a free quickstart session for new users, which is a one-hour remote session where we can help get started or fix specific issues:

http://www.nagios.com/downloadxi

Filling out that form will allow us to reach out and schedule a session with you.
