Nagios core 4 upgrade really high load

I just got done upgrading from 2012 to 2014 this morning on a customer's system and the load average was constantly around about 8 - 15.0. The minute I installed nagios core 4, the load average has now jumped to 350.00 and climbing with no visible way to repair it. I've checked everything I can on the system and now I need some help troubleshooting and reducing the load. Any ideas?
