Monitor engine is not running

Post by KPham »

to Tech support,
if anyone could help me please!
after I run the wizard to discover the cisco switches 192.168.110.3
the last step to click on apply and I get error
"configuration verification failed"

I try different witches still get the same error
even I try to remove all of the services and host 192.168.110.3
then try again still get the same error

I found out the monitor engine is not running with the red !

please if you could guide me the easy step to fix this issue

Thank you

Navigate to Configure > CCM > Tools > Write Configs Tool > then click Write and then Verify, please post the output of the verification, it should be surrounded by a red iframe/box. That will show you what you need to change/remove/etc to clear the errors and allow nagios to start.

Check your configuration file(s) to ensure that they contain valid
directives and data defintions. If you are upgrading from a previous
version of Nagios, you should be aware that some variables/definitions
may have been removed or modified in this version. Make sure to read
the HTML documentation regarding the config files, as well as the
'Whats New' section to find out what has changed.

You will need to go to CCM > Contacts > nagiosadmin > and undo the changes you must have manually made to the default contact.

You have to define service, and host notification commands or this contact will not be able to relay notifications. Since it is attached to the nagiosadmin user, you need to assign the following:
Service Command - xi_service_notification_handler

Host Command - xi_host_notification_handler
As is shown in the document I linked to you via email, also found here: http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... ios-XI.pdf

Then click save, and apply config.

No to a default, per se, but you could duplicate/copy one of the other contact's and then re-name it to take the place of the one that is having issues. It's easiest to be sure of what you are changing, and research the different options prior to changing/removing them though so it does not happen. Did my previous post fix this up for you?

I am working on adding all server and cisco devices back into nagios
