MRTG Scan File Removal

Post by mikew »

I am working with a company which is implementing as many as 150,000 services for switches and routers. So as we begin this process of implementing these, some switches and routers they removed and restore in a different way, learning process. I know MRTG is creating scan files in /usr/local/nagiosxi/tmp/mrtgscan* and these may be used the second time someone uses a Wizard. Can I safely remove these, even set a cron job to clean those scans in case they want to rescan and reset a switch or router?

I know this was OK in the past, I am just not positive things have not changed with the new 2014.

Yep, you can do that just fine, it's just going to require you to make sure that the "Scan Interfaces" box is checked in the wizard the next time you scan that address.
