Seems to be a correct statement somehow Andy. Although I'm not really sure how I came to name my services different then my hostname..

Re: Issue with renaming tool
This has been fixed and will be in the next release of Nagios XI. I've attached the version 1.4.1 renaming tool component if you'd like to update yours ahead of time. You should be able to upload the component via the Component Management GUI in the Admin panel.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
As of May 25th, 2018, all communications with Nagios Enterprises and its employees are covered under our new Privacy Policy.
Re: Issue with renaming tool
Sorry for resurrecting this old topic, but I am still having the issue with renaming a host under 2014R2.0 of XI. Just upgraded yesterday. Tried the Write Config workaround but still having issues.
Code: Select all
Reading configuration data...
Read main config file okay...
Error: Could not find any host matching 'XXXXX' (config file '/usr/local/nagios/etc/services/Cron Service.cfg', starting on line 16)
Error: Failed to expand host list 'YYYYY' for service 'CRON Service' (/usr/local/nagios/etc/services/Cron Service.cfg:16)
Error processing object config files!

Re: Issue with renaming tool
Can you verify which version of the component you currently have from Admin->Manage Components?
Nagios-Plugins maintainer exclusively, unless you have other C language bugs with open-source nagios projects, then I am happy to help! Please pm or use other communication to alert me to issues as I no longer track the forum.
Re: Issue with renaming tool
You are correct. I was able to recreate the issue.
It seems like renaming hosts was fixed in the "Renaming Tool" component but NOT in the CCM. I was told by developers that this will be fixed in the next revision.
For the time being you could either use the "Renaming Tool" (if you had "Nagios XI Enterprise Edition") or you could use the CCM + Write Config Tool (delete the configs prior to applying configuration).
Delete->Write->Verify->Apply Configuration

Re: Issue with renaming tool
So I rename the hosts, then do the delete/write/verify/apply?lmiltchev wrote:You are correct. I was able to recreate the issue.

Re: Issue with renaming tool
Yes. This should work. It's just a workaround for the time being.
