NagiosXI Update thru the gui

I have not been able to get nagiosxi to update to the next version via the gui https://nagios.XXXXXX.com/nagiosxi/admin/updates

I get the same message
The update did not complete successfully. Please try updating manually.

It fails almost instantly within about a second or two.

Indeed. The log should be located at:

/usr/local/nagiosxi/tmp/upgrade.log

If you could post the most relevant lines of the log we can try to assist you through these issues.

no log file in that path or anywhere else on the server with that name

Alright. Run a manual update by following the doc below. It should generate that file. If it does not, just post the last chunk of lines from the failed upgrade.
