Ok, I tested and confirmed that there is a bug on that specific page's permalink, it looks like it may work for some pages but not others. Let me do a little more investigating, but I'll post a link to the bug report once it's posted so you can track the progress.
Bug Reported: http://tracker.nagios.com/view.php?id=168
Issue appears to be incorrect handling of spaces in host and service names in the permalink.
Permalink returns "Not Authorized page"

Re: Permalink returns "Not Authorized page"
So any space in the Service Description causes this problem. Putting "_" in their place fixes it
Nagios.com buddies, come on. I love your product but this is a pretty obvious and pervasive bug. It breaks permalinks for most of the services. Do you what you need to fix these kinds of technical problems. Charge more $ for your great product, hire more engineers, whatever. Ethan Galstad, I am talking to you

Re: Permalink returns "Not Authorized page"
nope, adding the spaces only fixes the problem if I am logged in.
Perhaps this is a separate problem. When I try to access the permalink while logged out of nagiosxi, it prompts me to log on, after log on it shows me the screen "Not Authorized"
this is a big headache for my users. it confuses them greatly

Re: Permalink returns "Not Authorized page"
All of the pages in XI do require session authentication, even if you permalink the page. If access was allowed without the login by a direct URL that would be a massive security vulnerability. There are tools for backend access to the data, and we are working on creating a direct access system that will pass a ticket credential in the permalink to give direct access to a page for authorized users.
Re: Permalink returns "Not Authorized page"
9 times out of 10, when I send a permalink to a user they will not currently be logged into nagios. Here is the current workflow
1. User clicks link
2. nagios redirects user to logon screen
3. user logs on
4. nagios show user "Not Authorized" message
It would be much more intuitive if the user sees the actual service status. Most of my users won't know to click refresh to see the service status detail. This is a big usability bug

Re: Permalink returns "Not Authorized page"
Yeah, we have this as one of our main fixes on the agenda for our next release.
Re: Permalink returns "Not Authorized page"
when is the next release expected?
