Trying to get SNMP traps set up on a new NetBotz 450 we purchased. The active checks are working OK, (SNMP port 161) but the trap doesn't work. (Port 162).
First of all is the port deal correct? Documentation online says it should be set with 161 for SNMP and 162 for the traps. (Changing the traps to 161 doesn't fix the problem).
Think the problem might have something to do with the MIB's but I'm not sure where to begin with those. Is that something I get from the manufacturer, Nagios, or somewhere else?
Thanks

Re: Setup SNMP Traps on NetBotz 450
are you getting anything in /var/log/snmptt/snmptt.log or /var/log/snmptt/snmpttunknown.log?

Re: Setup SNMP Traps on NetBotz 450
Vaj is correct. You should see output in those logs pertaining to unknown traps if they are being received by nagios. Additionally, check unconfigured object in the UI for any traps that successfully traversed snmptt but are failing to match a current object.

Didn't have the smptt software loaded, installed that, and I get this in snmpttunknown.log.

Re: Setup SNMP Traps on NetBotz 450
That is a NetBotz trap, you're on your way.
Make sure you have the MIBs imported to Nagios (Admin-->Manage MIBs) and that you select "Process traps".

Re: Setup SNMP Traps on NetBotz 450
Thanks, I'll give that a shot.
I have another question. This box has two sensors plugged into it. One is for detecting water, the other probe does temperature and humidity. I am assuming that the same SNMP Trap that I set up for this box will process the traps from all of these sensors, so is there something in the MIB's that will give us the detail on the trap itself, indicating that it's either temperature, water, etc.?

Re: Setup SNMP Traps on NetBotz 450
Not that familiar with the messages from Netboz, but a quick view of the NETBOTZ-PRD-BOT-MIB show separate traps for dry, amps, temps, etc. You will need to define each of those in the snmptt.conf
The details should come in the message though.

Re: Setup SNMP Traps on NetBotz 450
Can't get these sites to download anything.
MIB Depot has a notice on their main page that their downloads have been disabled because they were hacked. OID View just takes me to some search screen where it says stuff is loading, but it just sits there. Might be something blocked by our network, who knows.
Shouldn't I be able to get the MIB I need from the manufacturer?

Re: Setup SNMP Traps on NetBotz 450
Well, I haven't had this much fun since I had my wisdom teeth pulled out through my ears.
I downloaded the NetBotz 450 MIB from Netbotz website, tried to upload it to Nagios XI, and from the Manage MIB page I get this:
I downloaded and extracted the file to my Windows desktop, browsed to it from the MIB Admin page, checked the box to process traps, but it's throwing this permissions error at me.
Should I just copy this file directly to the Nagios server? If so, which directory?
Sorry for all the noob questions, just never did this before.
Thanks
