Forcing a notification

When testing a new notification technique or even just adding a new person to the list, it can be useful to ask nagios to do an on-demand test notification.
Is this possible?

You might find the following two commands useful:

SEND_CUSTOM_HOST_NOTIFICATION
SEND_CUSTOM_SVC_NOTIFICATION
