Modify Switch/Router Wizard

I am trying to modify the switch/router wizard to allow for better management. Several companies I am working with have 150,000-200,000 switch and router ports to manage. The fear is if they use the wizard as it is currently it sets local settings and changes are problematic with scale. Yes the bulk modification tool is an option but it does not change everything. So here is what we are trying to do:

1. Create all hosts and services with no local settings
This is the goal so we can manage everything from one template.

2. Change all of the templates so they are on one level
This is for easier troubleshooting.

What I would like to know is how I could change the wizard so it does not create local settings in each host and service. Any ideas would be great.

I talked to Scott about this and it is possible. Those local settings are being set at a higher level than the wizard itself inside XI. All that would need to be done is adding an option possibly to add or not add local settings in the wizard once we add a way to configure the settings being run by the wizard in Nagios XI. There is currently a task for this open and we will be working on a solution for you ASAP! Hopefully once we figure out a well thought out way to do this it will be available in a future release so everyone can take advantage of the feature.
