Can you run one more time:

grep nag /etc/group

and show us the output?

Also, run the following commands and show us the output:

ls -lad /var/lib/nagios3/rw
ls -la /var/lib/nagios3/rw

Note: Modify the path to the "rw" directory if it is different on your system.
