Birdseye view makes my cpu go to +- 99 %

Post by WillemDH »

Hello,

Noticed today my Nagios XI was extremely slow. Doing a top showed apache user with httpd process was the cause. So I closed all my browsers, problem went away. Started browsers again and did not ahve any issues untill I opened Birdseye view again. See attachment. Cpu goes every time to 100 % and stays there while Birdseye view is opened.

See screenshot.

I haven't been able to reproduce the issue in Nagios XI 2014R1.5. What is the version of the Birdseye component that you are currently using?

Admin->Manage Components

Do you have any errors in the apache error log when you click on the "Birdseye" link?

Hey,

I've not been able to reproduce it. But I did notice Firefox consumes a lot more memory then Chrome. The firefox process needs extra memory continuously, even more then 1 GB if you leave the page open for half a day. Smells like some sort of memory leak. Could someone test for similar symptoms on Firefox? (Nagios XIR1.5) 5. i see this on my home dasboard, not birdseye.

Grtz

So, the way to try to recreate this would be to keep Firefox open for the half a day or so (the home dashboard page)? Then, one should see an apache cpu usage spike to 99%, correct?

Yes correct, My home dashboard is full of stuff though , mostly nagios load related. So it might be one of the dashlets.

Ah, can you test the birdseye view separate from the dash?

Andy,

No errors during reload of Brirdeye View. I'm posting the error log anyway:

When I browse to http://nagiosserver/nagiosxi/dashboards ... d=6n3f89tr I get "Unfortunately for you, that dashboard is not valid... Too bad. Dashboard ID: 6n3f89tr "

But this has nothing to do with the memory leak. ABout the memory leak:

I have Nagios open for 2:46 atm and memory reached 201 MB. I know that memory usage keeps rising untill my pc becomes very slow. And then I decide to use Chrome lol...

WillemDH,

I think it is time to move this to a ticket so we an see it in a remote session. Send an email to [email protected] and we will get moving on this tomorrow.

Andy,

Ok I will open a ticket. I have some other long standing open issues too. Can you get a look at these too? One is for my timeline that has never worked, the other is for my hosts which are greyed out after a reboot untill I apply configuration. This evening, I have some stuff to do, so could the remote session be scheduled on Thursday 20/11 somewhere between 08:00 and 10:00 for you? See screenshot for meeting planner.
