Can you provide a link to a topic that exists that you have read through? What version of Nagios are you running, and on what distribution? Can you post your complete configuration verification output? Do you know if any changes were made before this started happening? What is the output of:

We are trying to help you, we can only help properly if our questions are answered. First of all, I'd highly recommend contacting cacti as well, as you are using their distribution, and I have absolutely no idea how it is built. 2nd, when did this start happening? It had to have been after something was changed on the system. Where is your nagios configuration file, please post it here.

I downloaded this from http://cactiez.cactiusers.org/
It has the three apps that I need for keeping a check on my Lan. Cacti , Syslog and Nagios. Till now I have been using Dude (from Mikrotik as a Nagios substitute) and Free Kiwi Logger and http://www.cacti.net/downloads/packages ... 0.8.8b.exe for graphing.
I am interested in doing away with Windows environment and getting onto Linux (of which I know very little) as the apps here seem more robust.

I am interested in doing away with Windows environment and getting onto Linux (of which I know very little) as the apps here seem more robust.

I tried to start Nagios through the execute command option in WebMin and got this

nagios is stopped
runuser: warning: cannot change directory to /var/log/nagios: Permission denied
-bash: /var/log/nagios/.bash_profile: Permission denied
Starting nagios: [FAILED]
Does this help??
