Using the 'Upgrade to the latest Version' button under Admin

We have offloaded our mysql database to another server. Can we use the upgrade feature within XI or do we need to follow a separate process when we upgrade?

I believe it should make exceptions for the offloaded DB, as the backup process does now too. I would take a snapshot of the system and give it a try, if it fails, it should not break anything.
