Hello,
I'm trying to evaluate Nagios XI as a possible replacement for our current server monitoring tool. I successfully installed Nagios XI server on RHEL6.5 and when attempting to run the ./fullinstall script on a RHEL5.8 and a RHEL6.5 systems I get these two errors (one from each system)
(On a RHEL6 system) redhatenterpriseworkstation6.5 is not currently supported. Please use Red Hat or CentOS versions 5 or 6.
(On a RHEL5.8 system) redhatenterpriseclient5.8 is not currently supported. Please use Red Hat or CentOS versions 5 or 6.
I'm rather confused on this error as both of these systems are RHEL 5 and RHEL6 and it's saying to use Red Hat versions 5 or 6.

Re: linux-nrpe-agent install error
Are these systems registered with RHN? Can you run "lsb_release -a" please and show the output?

Are these systems registered with the RedHat Network?

Re: linux-nrpe-agent install error
We do have subscription/support from RedHat. In our environment our clients/servers don't go directly to RedHat but to our Satellite Server, and our Satellite Server is the one that directly goes back to the RedHat. The client/servers then check in with our Satellite Server for anything that needs to be updated on the systems.

Re: linux-nrpe-agent install error
Yeah, the installation script should definitely be working with those versions, where did you get the linux-agent-nrpe tarball from? I'm curious to see if you may have gotten an older one by accident. One way around this for you while we work out what went wrong would be to follow:

Re: linux-nrpe-agent install error
After installing Nagios XI on my RHEL server, I used the wizard to download the linux-agent-nrpe.
Re: linux-nrpe-agent install error
You may have to remove the version checks at the beginning of the fullinstall script. I know we are getting ready to update this agent to support more platforms shortly as well.

Re: linux-nrpe-agent install error
Hello,
I used the link you gave me to set-up the NRPE agent, thank you. I ran into another issue and not sure how to proceed. After installing the NRPE agent, I traversed to the Core Config Manager after logging back into Nagios XI to add a new service and everything was good until I selected the "Apply Configuration" and all it says is "waiting for configuration verification" and I thought it could take a few minutes. I left for a few meetings which totaled just over two hours and it was still in that state. I followed the documentation you linked to me to setup the configuration of the NRPE service check through Nagios XI and retraced my steps and it doesn't seem I missed any steps. Not sure what to do now.
