manual local backup hangs webui

OVF image download running on vmware, nagios version 2014R2.0 64-bit.
Don't even have any hosts setup, ran a local backup consistently comes to 47.44MB but interface is hung and have to "reboot" from console.
I have let it sit as long as 20 minutes which seems like a long time for a fresh install with nothing in the config but 5 user accounts and scheduled daily backups (limited to 7 total).
Help please.

notes:
4 vCPU
8 GB memory
vsphere performance tab shows cpu staying doubled from 2.5% to 5% once I start the backup, memory eventually drops but cpu stays spiked.

It took 30 minutes for a manual backup to stop hanging the webui and for cpu usage to drop back down.

Never used Local backup, but this might be related to my issue described here: http://support.nagios.com/forum/viewtop ... 9&start=10 => When I start quick action to long running script, the browser hangs untill it it finished. You could use scheduled backup?

Thank you for the reply.
I have scheduled backups configured and that will answer my needs, but it doesn't address the issue. Clicking a button in the webui should not come with the caveat of "please now wait to work for 30 minutes".

Your input IS APPRECIATED and that will help me with production but it isn't the answer to the question.

Thanks for the submission devildog, we'll have to give it a try and see if we get the same results. In answer to willem's post, this might be inadvertently similar, but I believe this should function fundamentally different. We fully expect backups to take time, and do NOT(or at least should not) force javascript processes to wait on it to finish. However it is very odd that it only happens on this otherwise long action. Would I be correct in expecting that you can open a new tab or browser window entirely and connect to the webui OK with the new session, even though the backing up one is locked?

negative. I am not able to open and access another tab going to the webui.. it just sits there.

I actually just fixed this earlier today. It's basically waiting for the backup to complete but it doesn't ever stop. You can restart apache to get it to allow you to use the web UI again. The fix will be in the next version of Nagios XI which is coming in the next two weeks.

I've attached the new component if you'd like to use it with the fixed timeout functionality now. You can upload it via the web UI.

Since you have a time line that is only 2 weeks out I will let the update address it. I'm glad there is a fix though.
