Hi All,
I've got a question regarding hostgroups / nested hostgroups.
I've currently got 45 hosts, with multi checks under each, currently at 564 checks. As some of these hosts are of the same type, I've created hostgroups, to contain these. For example, I have 4 groups of Proxies. In each of these are the separate hosts that match the type of proxy being used.
In other groups I have a CRM tools we use, mail servers and so on.
What I want to to is change the look and usability, so that down the left sidebar, I can split these for ease of use. I know I can use each of these hostgroups as a title, but what I was hoping to do was create another layer, but maintain the same look and feel. So instead of have the 4 individual groups of proxies down the left, I'd like 1 that says "All Proxies". I know with nested I can create this group but it changes the look. This top level group appears in the "hostgroup=all" view, but with all the individual hosts shown. What I was hoping, was that I could hide it from that view, and instead have a view that show the 4 proxy hostgroups, ie more of a proper tree view.
Is this possible?
Any thoughts much appreciated.
Cheers,
Richard

Re: Hostgroup views
It is almost definitely possible, but the route of adding parent\super groups(however you choose to describe it) is going to be the easiest by far. It sounds like the changes you want would be modifications to the cgi files themselves, and require changes to the core source and recompilation if you wanted to modify the menus on the left of core.
