Monitoring Wizard and Templates
I have made some changes to the values for check interval, retry interval, and check attempts in generic-service, xiwizard_snmp_service, and generic_host. But when I run the snmp wizard, the values that show up are default ones, and not the modified ones. Am I missing a location for these changes to adjust the ones that show up when I run the wizard? I have to enter about 300 items, and it will save me a bit of time if I don't have to change these every time.
Re: Monitoring Wizard and Templates
Can you explain in more detail where you made the changes and post exactly what you changed?

Re: Monitoring Wizard and Templates
Configure / Core Config Manager
Then click Host Templates on the left side to bring up host templates
... click generic_host
Host Template Management
Check Settings tab
-> change check interval to 15 min, retry interval to 5 min, max check attempts to 2, and check period selected 24x7 (required to select something here).
-> click Save
Then click Service Templates on the left side to bring up service templates
... click generic-service
Service Template Management
Check Settings tab
-> change check interval to 15 min, retry interval to 5 min, max check attempts to 2, and check period selected 24x7 (required to select something here).
-> click Save
... click xiwizard_snmp_service (last save brought me back into the Service Template list)
Service Template Managment
Check Settings tab
-> change check interval to 15 min, retry interval to 5 min, max check attempts to 2, and check period selected 24x7 (required to select something here).
-> click Save
Click Apply Configuration on the left. Then click Apply Configuration button. Get the three green-circle-check-marks of success.
***Now I've changed the check interval, the retry interval, and the max check attempts on three of the Templates.
Click Configuration Wizards on the left, find and click SNMP from the list of wizards, enter the IP address or FQDNS of the server,
at next screen, I make my selections (SNMP things), click Next at bottom of page, ... and ...
This is the Monitor settings page of the wizard, it shows these values in the entry boxes:
Monitor host and service(s) every 5 minutes,
Re-check the host and service(s) every 1 minute up to 5 times before generating an alert.
These are not the values I just entered and saved into the template. I can't get the wizard to use the values I'm entering into the template. My question is, am I not editing the right templates to fix the default values that appear in the wizard? Do I have to edit the wizard? If yes, which ones and where are they located? I did look around for the wizards, but was unable to locate where these values are coming from, that are not the values in the template adjustments I described above.
Thanks! I hope this clarifies better what I'm attempting to do; adjusting templates in hopes of changing the values that show up by default in the wizard.

Re: Monitoring Wizard and Templates
Ahh I understand now! Thanks for the detail.
There have been some customers asking to be able to change these values, but currently the PHP file that controls those values are encrypted through source guardian so you won't be able to view or change them. This is currently a feature request that we have in our tracking system, it will hopefully add another config section where you can set these defaults through the CCM or admin page.
For now it's not customizable, but there are plans to include this in Nagios XI 2015 sometime down the road. If you have any other questions please feel free to post a new topic or email me.
