nagios core not sending mails

Hello,
I have been troubleshooting without results.

since sunday 8am nagios core do not send email/notifications anymore.
i send custom notification via de web interface and nothing is sent, nothing appears on the mail.log
i see the notificatons appear on nagios.log

when I send via the command line. the mails arrive ok. it is just the mails send by the nagios process that are not being sent.

nothing has normally changed on the server.


any idea?

in the meantime I solved this... after 4 hours of trying.

I stopped nagios core and run in the foreground and it appears to be a problem with the permissions on /var/tmp the sticky bit was not set anymore..

I wonder why this was not written in the mail.log or in the nagios.log

hope it helps someone.

btw the core is installed on a solaris 10 virtual machine.
