Contacts that recieve notifications without attached user.

Post by krobertson71 »

I read the doc Nagios XI - Configuring Core Contacts to Use XI's phpmailer SMTP Settings.

I followed the instructions and everything worked fine.

However, I cannot include the %responseurl% like you can in the normal Notifications section. Now the command format in the guide uses $variable$ and I tried that as well with no success.

So I am wondering if there is a way to get this in at all? I like the idea of creating monitoring contacts without have to add that contact as a user. Our IT department has specialized emails, using a tool like mailman, that sends notifications via a group mail address. I am not worried about SMS messages as there is just not enough room, but warning emails it would be very welcome.

Any ideas?

The big issue with this request is that the response url assumes an XI user - so that the url will log into XI and offer an acknowledgement form. As the core contacts are not associated to an XI user, there is no way for XI to allow access to the response url without ticket and username.
That is most likely why the response url is not included.

I figured as much. Just thought I would ask just in case I was missing something.

Thanks for getting back.
