Dashboard Deployment Tool features.

Post by TBT »

A feature request made back in 2013 has been marked as resolved, however, changes are not present from what I've observed in Nagios XI 2014R2.4 and Nagios Fusion 2014R1.0.

We'd like to reinstate Tracker ID #349 as assigned so that other individuals subscribed can follow progress too. http://tracker.nagios.com/view.php?id=349

Updated features requirement:

1. Check-box option to deploy to "All Users". Rather than individually selecting all users, provide a check box for "All Users". This box is also persistent if checked, meaning the check-box remains checked, all changes transition automatically to current and future users without having to manually deploy modifications each time a Dashboard changes or users are added to XI or Fusion.

2. Check-box option for "Admin Ownership" Dashboards. Currently, when a Dashboard is created only the individual who created it can manage and deploy changes. This doesn't play nice in an environment where multiple Administrators create/manage dashboards for All Users. It would be beneficial to have an option to share dashboards between Admin.

3. Check-box option for "Read-Only" Dashboards. Dashboards with Read-Only status have all Dashlets locked in place and can not be moved or deleted. Only Admin users can deploy a Read-Only Dashboard and if set, Admin Ownership option described above will apply.

4. Each of these options require a column indicating which Dashboards are set to All User, Admin Ownership, Read-Only and also list which users are affected.

I've done my best to be descriptive, but please feel free to contact me for clarification or discuss potentially designing a proof of concept.

Would you like me to file these internally as individual feature requests? They are more likely to get traction that way, however the availability to check on the status publicly is lost.

tmcdonald,

Perhaps it is best to keep these requests combined as some features are dependent on one-another.

I believe Scott has reopened the report in tracker.

We will be anxiously waiting for these features also. Especially number 2. There are three of us that could at any point in time be tasked with modifying an existing dashboard and deploying the changes.
Any Nagios admin should be able to modify and deploy dashboards without them tied to an individual.

Thanks,
Greg

that's for the additional feedback Greg.

We do still have this as an upcoming feature to be built.
