I'm a new user, but this appears to be a bug to me...
When I go to the Service Escalation option in Nagios Core Config and then
select Add New, none of my Services appear in the Services list box. Inf fact if you
select Modify, it then brings up the Modify selections: Contacts, rather than Services.
I saw this bug in R1.5, but I just upgraded to Nagios XI 2011R1.6 and it is still there.
Is this happening to anyone else?
Problem with Add New Service Escalation
Re: Problem with Add New Service Escalation
You must select a host first through "Modify", so that the "Services" box can populate. It will show you all of the services for the particular host that you selected.

Re: Problem with Add New Service Escalation
I had already tried that, and it doesn't work. Even if it did there is something wrong with the Modify
option on the Services anyway. Like I said it brings up a Modify dialogue for Contacts and not
Services.
Anyone know how long you have to be registered to post on the real Support Forum?

BenCowan,
If you select the Modify button for the Contacts what happens, does it bring up the Contacts dialog? What does the Help (?) button just below the Modify say? Is that juxtaposed too? Do you see any of yours Hosts populated in the Hosts dialog box?
Does this issue happen regularly?
Also, to post on the Customer forum you need to have an active service plan. If you have one, let us know and we'll clear you for the Customer forum.

Re: Problem with Add New Service Escalation
I received this from XISupport this AM. Thanks Ludmil!
It it confirmed now that this is a bug in Nagios XI R1.5 and R1.6. I
just posted it on our bug tracker. Check this link:
http://tracker.nagios.com/view.php?id=185
They gave me a workaround that is similar to what was recommended to me earlier by someone on this forum:
under the CCM -> Add New.
Then select a host by clicking on the "Modify" button. The services box
should populate with services for this particular host.
In my case, I have all my Services Attached to Hostgroups, not Hosts, so once I populated the
Host groups(*) list, then my Services appeared. ...so, I'm off and running again. Thanks!

Re: Problem with Add New Service Escalation
I was only able to get the workaround to work once. I hope this gets fixed soon...
