Questions on pre-purchase evaluation

Post by DominicTouretti »

Hi all,

We're running already a Nagios Core on a RH6E-VM. Is it possible to install/run NLS on the same machine?

The FAQ says:
Is There A Free Edition of Nagios Log Server?

Yes! Nagios Started in the Open Source community and we hold strong to our roots. Nagios Log Server is free to use for up to 500MB of log data per day. This makes it easy to monitor small environments or to try it in your environment before you buy it!
The trial is running for 60/90 days after install, does NSL automatically running in "free mode" after leaving the trial period or does a free license has to be "purchased"?

Kind regards

Yes, but it is not suggested. Our installer assumes a clean system.

Thanks. As for company compliance, i'm forced to consolidate the machines.

So far, I've managed to install the software, though it was really a challenge because of our security policies, the multinational networks and the world-wide proxiing.

What about the "Free Edition" point? Any statement here?

Automatically switches to free mode, no purchase necessary, allows a single instance in the cluster and a 7 day average on 500MB/day incoming data.
